History is alive and in abundance on the island of Sardinia. This is your opportunity to visit some of what remains of a civilization that is approximately 3,000 years old! Enjoy an exclusive guided visit to the Phoenician city of Nora and the hidden gem town of Pula.

Your guide will meet you out side the gate at your Cagliari cruise port for a picturesque 40-minute drive to the ancient ruins of Nora, the first Phoenician city of Sardinia! Over the course of approximately 1.5 hours, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will share the rich history of this site that may eventually be inaccessible. The southern part of Sardinia is sinking into the Mediterranean Sea, which has resulted in a significant portion of the former town now being submerged.

Nora was a Roman and pre-Roman town dating back to the time of the Phoenicians. Whether fact or abit of fiction, the founding of the town is bathed in colorful history. The tradition says that Nora was the first city on the island.

As you enter the archeological zone, you will see what remains of the thermal baths. Walk along the cobbled street to the heart of this open-air museum - Piazza del Foro. Here you will see the ruins of the Temple of Tanit - a Carthaginian goddess. The archeological zone was revealed in 1889 following a storm that uncovered the Phoenician Tophet, a kind of cemetery for children. And hence the excavations began. An aqueduct and necropolis are found on the site, as are the remains of a nobleman's house dating back to the third century. The rooms of the house are lined with mosaics that are stunning. Your guided visit to Nora will be approximately 1.5 hours.

The main attraction of Nora is the theater, the only one in Sardinia. In its day, it was lined with marble and could seat 1,000 people on its 20 terraces. The spectacular structure still today is host to the La Notte dei Poeti festival! Please note that during the festivals, the theater is covered to protect the ruins. In spite of all that you will see, much of Nora remains unexcavated! Looking out across the golden sands of the beach and the crystal waters of the Mediterranean, you can likely take yourself back to the forgotten past of this ancient urban trading center and imagine what it must have been!

Before returning to your Cagliari cruise port, you will also visit the nearby town of Pula. A hidden gem in the southern Sardinia, with charming alleys and patrician homes. You can browse your perfect souvenir here, there are many craft shops and if times allow maybe you can enter one of their traditional restaurants. Here and throughout this incredible experience, your guide will strive to make your time as personalized as possible. You will have approximately 30 minutes in Pula.

Your transportation will take you back to the port at the Cagliari pier at the end of your excursion.

This combination tour takes you into the heart of Sardinian, in a little town called Paulilatino .

On the tour you will learn about the Sardinian History, the Nuragic Civilization and their monuments.

Discover the Nuragic Village walking trough the Nuraghe, Temple and cemetery. The well temple of Santa Cristina (12th cent. bc) is one of the finest examples of the elaborate religious architecture of the Nuragic era. The nuraghe structure consists of an entranceway (dromos) with steps leading to an underground, circular domed chamber (tholos), all surrounded by an enclosing wall (temenos). The walls of the stairway and underground tholos are made from finely cut ashlar blocks of alkali basalt rock.Santa Cristina can without a doubt be considered the most representative of the Sardinian well temples. In the  area surrounding the temple are the remains of a village, at the front of which stands a "meeting hut" with a circular stone seat.

You will take the free transport from your Cagliari cruise pier to the parking just one minute away where your guide will be waiting for you. You will meet your guide and board your transportation to the heart of the island and the village of Serdiana located approximately 11 miles (18 km) to the north of Cagliari for a quick yet scenic drive.

Located in the rolling hills, the small town of Serdiana only has a population of approximately 2,000. For thousands of years, the land and climate make the wines and olive oil of this region unique. Not to mention the grapes in this area have been grown since Nuraghic times and some native grapes of the area are famous, like the Cannonau, Vermentino and Carignano. The exact vineyard you will visit depends on the day of the week and the crowds but all are top quality such as Cantine Argiolas, Pauli, Cantine Pala and Audarya.

When you arrive at the winery, you will be treated to a tasting accompanied by cheese and cured meats to complement the samples. Whether you like red wine, white wine, or both, you will be able to have a sample of two different types of each. The winery staff will explain the process and wine itself. You will also have the opportunity to buy some of the best wines in the winery store at a discount - be sure to check with your cruise line for their regulations on bringing wine back on-board. All in all, you will spend approximately 2 hours at the winery, during which time your guide will be happy to assist you with his or her expertise. Many of the wineries have small museums/displays showcasing some of the century-old world ways located now in modern facilities.

Afterwards, you will drive to Donori, where you can taste the best cheese and of course you can save money as well buying from the factory store. At the end of your experience, your local guide will be keen to make the tour as personal as possible. He will assist you with his expertise and recall interesting anecdotes for you before bringing you back to your cruise ship.

An exclusive excursion to knowledge of history and experience it first-hand! Visit the Casa Zapata Museum and the Nuragic village, Su Muraxi in the town of Barumini. Discover the mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage site!

After you take the free shuttle from your pier to the passenger terminal (1 minute), your guide for the day will meet you at your cruise terminal where you will board your transportation to the town of Barumini. The 45-minute drive is beautiful and scenic, which will make the ride seem short. Your guide will be giving you information throughout the excursion. As it is just you and your small group for the day, all of the attention and details will be on you.

Su Nuraxi "The Nuraghe" in the native Campidanese language, was a settlement build in the 17th century BCE and was inhabited up until the 6th century. Nuraghe is a type of megalithic tower-like structure. You will have approximately 2 hours to explore the archaeological site of Su Nuraxi. The Nuragic village discovered by the professor Giovanni Lilliu in the 1950's. Although the true function of this nuraghe is still not known, it could have been any number of things including a fortress, a religious site, a refuge, or even the site of parliament. The entire village consisted of towers and between 40 and 200 huts, used for meetings of local leaders, workshops, kitchens, and agricultural processing. A sewage system and a paved square with streets appear to have been built during the 9th-8th century. Throughout your experience, your guide will be with you to share information about the sites you visit

You will spend approximately 40 minutes at Casa Zapata, an on-site museum that was once the palace of the Aragonese nobles. The Hispanic style house was built over the ruins of a nuraghe in the 16th century. The archaeological section of Casa Zapata is located in the oldest part of the beautiful palace, housing an impressive collection of over 180 artifacts including the family crest. Inside the historical section, there are numerous important documents belonging to the Zapata family. There is also an ethnographic section where you will find some of the more common tools used by the ancient village inhabitants. The house itself is still a stunning example of opulence and architecture.

At the end of this exciting adventure, your fantastic guide will return you to your cruise port in Cagliari.
