Traveling on the Trenino Verde is the most suggestive way to get to know Sardinia. In 1921 Lawrence immortalized his journey in the book Mare e Sardegna, which describes this ancient railway line. A return to the past, between ancient stations, wild landscapes and unique naturalistic views.
From Mandas, we head towards Isili, the railway laps the imposing nuraghe Is Paras, the view opens towards the blue of the Is Barrocus lake, which we admire first from the top and then from the historic little station of Sarcidano. A few more kilometers and we reach Nurallao, with the characteristic station faithfully restored and adapted as a bar-restaurant.
Through woods and in constant ascent, we reach the village of Laconi, the ancient seat of the Marquis Aymerich. With its splendid park full of streams, waterfalls and exceptional plants (including even a large cedar of Lebanon), but also the Museo dei Menhir and the liberty villa of the notary Sulis, Laconi is an ideal destination for a trip with the green train.
