The ancient site is composed of the Acropolis and the sanctums on the Eastern Hill. The archeological site of SELINUNTE includes several temples, part of the excavated ancient city, amazing ruins more than 2500 years old and a beautiful landscape. In the 5th Century BC it was second only to Syracuse. It is one of the most evocative places in Sicily, also one of the most impressive of all Greek sites.
According to the traditional legend, SEGESTA had a Trojan origin. The well preserved temple was built in the late 5th century BC. The high-stepped, semi-circular theatre opens onto a breathtaking panorama over the surrounding countryside with the sea in the distance. It is located on the isolated hill called Barbaro, which offers a great panorama, and washed by the river Crimiso, nearby Calatafimi.

Drive (approx. 2h) to PIAZZA ARMERINA to visit the well preserved mosaics of the Roman Villa from the 3rd Century, which is among the most luxurious of its kind, giving an interesting insight into Roman life at the time.
