You will be able to satisfy all your curiosity about dolphins and observe researchers while collecting scientific data to study the population of bottlenose dolphins in the Gulf of Alghero. During the snorkelling you will have a guide that will take you to discover the underwater life. On board we will tell you some interesting facts about what we have seen. You will never be alone!
Our excursions are inspired by the principles of ecotourism and sustainability:
- Engines of the latest generation of boats to reduce consumption and silenced to reduce the emission of underwater noise.
- We adopt the ACCOBAMS international code of conduct for approaching dolphins and whales, minimizing disturbance.
- We never use non-recyclable materials for our aperitifs.
- We offer a zero km aperitif to support the local economy.
This is a typical itinerary for this product
The first part of the excursion is dedicated to the search for dolphins (dolphin-watching), where you can also participate by learning the techniques of marine mammal observer.
Thanks to the presence on board of the MareTerra scientists, our sighting percentage is over 80%, a very high probability for such elusive animals. Spotted the group of dolphins, we will approach in compliance with the code of conduct that we adopt to minimize the disturbance of our presence and be able to continue to observe their natural behavior. During the sighting we will tell you the biology and behavior of dolphins and you will be able to listen to the sounds they emit to communicate, thanks to the recordings made on board by the MareTerra scientists. Thanks to the photo-identification technique, we will be able to recognize dolphins from their dorsal fin and tell you what they are called, how old they are and how they are.
In the second part of the excursion you will admire one of the most beautiful coasts of Sardinia, within the crystalline waters of the Marine Protected Area Capo Caccia-Isola Piana. After all these emotions, dive into calm and uncrowded waters and let us guide you to discover the seabed and its inhabitants. Don't have much experience with snorkeling? Our guides will accompany you and guide you in the water to live this experience in safety. All the necessary equipment (mask, snorkel, fins) is present on board, available to guests.
NB - To participate in snorkeling it is necessary to know how to swim in high water.
During the return to port you will taste an aperitif of cheeses and cured meats at zero km, accompanied by a glass of fresh Vermentino wine.
We know how difficult it is to photograph dolphins. We therefore want to give you the possibility to download our professional photos as a souvenir of your experience with us. On board you will receive instructions to download the photos of your sighting from our site.
