With its untouched natural beauty, isolated landscape, rare flora and fauna species and unique history, this island located on the far north-west tip of Sardinia, separating the open sea from the gulf which takes its name, is in a world of its own. Ready for you to explore.

You can admire this untouched landscape by an off-road vehicle or trekking.

Live a unique and fascinating trekking experience in the Asinara National Park. A 3 hours drive from Cagliari through the beautiful Sardinian countryside to get to the northwest of the island where we will take the boat. This suggestive environmental and historical place, the wild and uncontaminated nature of one of the major Sardinian islands will amaze you in every way.

Rounded hills cloaked in Mediterranean green, local breeds such as the white donkey, and the thousand colours of the sea and its teeming sea bed. Asinara's natural heritage, which stretches over 50 square kilometres within the territory of Porto Torres, was designated a national park in 1997 and protected marine area in 2002. The island's extraordinary history, separated from the mainland by Piana island and the road through Fornelli, has kept it intact.

Visiting a small village inhabited by fishermen up to 1885 where a former prison has become a hostel, Asinara remained isolated for more than a century, and even more so when the maximum security prison was built in 1975 for Red Brigade members, kidnappers and mafia bosses such as Raffaele Cutolo and Totò Riina.

Be ready for a Jeep Tour of about 6 hours to visit the whole island. We will have the opportunity to swim in an incredibly crystalline water, relax an enjoy your snack.

Your local guide will be keen to make the tour as personal as possible. He will assist you with his expertise and recall interesting anecdotes for you before leaving the island.

Castelsardo is a medieval fortress surrounded by nature and steeped in history, religious traditions and ancient crafts. It sits perched on promontory in Anglona, in the center of the Asinara Gulf in north-western Sardinia. It was already an impenetrable centuries-old fortress protected by thick walls and 17 towers, until the advent of modern weaponry. The original nucleus of Castelsardo grew up around the castle of the Dorias, which tradition dates to 1102,

In the heart of the Gallura, amidst impressive granite rocks, wild "macchia", cork and Holm oaks, lies TEMPLE PAUSANIA. On a first visit to the city, the contrast between the loveliness of the landscape and the austerity of the granite buildings is striking. TEMPIO PAUSANIA was founded by the Romans, though the most ancient settlements dates back to Nuraghi and pre-Nuraghi times (3000 B.C. to 1600 B.C.), with well-preserved examples including the Nuraghi Majori. The village is known for its superb chestnuts and vermentino wines, its mineral springs, and its pleasant climate.

CASTELSARDO is a picturesque historic town on the northern coast of Sardinia. The old town, fortified with a castle, is an interesting and atmospheric place to visit. There are attractive restaurants in historic lanes, and shops selling all kinds of Sardinian handicrafts and other souvenirs. CASTELSARDO's castle, the Castle of the Doria, houses the Museo dell'Intreccio del Mediterraneo, a museum of basketball-weaving, an important local handicraft. From the castle to the storage area. The castle was built by the Doria family of Genoa, and then called Castelgenovese, was the home of a Doria bride: the Sardinian heroine Eleanora d'Arborea.

Visit eleven rooms dedicated to the history of basketmaking in Castlsardo. The basketwork of the town of Castelsardo is still considered an ancient skill, not written down but documented and handed down to the new generations by the villagers who inhabit the medieval town. Visit MOG (Museo delle origini Genovesi) museum dedicated to the genoan origins of Castelsardo.

Visit: Museo dell'Intreccio Mediterraneo, Via Marconi, Castelsardo, Sardinia Italy

You will visit the museum of Mediterranean Weaving and the Genoa origins of the town of Castelsardo, which also gives a panoramic view from the fortess.

Along the streets of the town one can still come across basketmakers who are both historical and modern figures, sitting in front of their houses weaving with dwarf palm, marine hay or raffia, almost as if they need to communicate this tradition to tourists as well as to their own fellow citizens, Their artifacts, on display for the tourists and passersby, recall the techniques, forms and decorations of the ancient basketworking tradition of Castelsardo but also reflect the personal tastes and innovative talent of the contemporary local craftsmen.

In Sardinia, the varying distribution of the weft fiber on the warp determines the distinction between two different compositional techniques: coiling and twining. To these we can add the techniques used for roofing and mats; for sacred occasions or ceremonies, like the Easter palms; for the caning of the typical Sardinian kitchen chairs; for articles used in daily work activities depending on the type of work involved; fishing creels or breadbaskets.

The history of Castelsardo originates under the medieval name of Castelgenovese, the fortress belonging to the Ligurian family, the Doria. Its story is linked to a myth belied by historical fact: its founding, for centuries dated at 1102, because of an erroneous interpretation of medieval data by the historian and humanist Giovanni Francesco Fara from Sassari (1543-1591). The exact year is difficult to establish because a foundation charter of the fortress does not exist, it was first mentioned in 1272 in a letter sent by Carlo D’Angiò, King of Sicily to the municipality of Genoa asking that justice be rendered to Guglielmo di Saint-Gilles, a citizen of Palermo, who had been imprisoned in the fortress.

One of Sardinia's most beautiful medieval cities, Alghero is the main resort in the northwest. The town hasn't given up its unique character and it retains a proud and independent spirit. Its animated historic center is a terrific place to hang out, and with so many excellent restaurants and bars, it makes an ideal base for exploring the beaches and beauty spots of the nearby Riviera del Corallo.

The main focus of attention is the picturesque centro storico (town center), one of the best preserved in Sardinia. Enclosed by robust, honey-colored seawalls, this is a tightly knit enclave of shady cobbled lanes, Gothic palazzi, and cafe-lined piazzas. You will discover its beauties with your local expert guide strolling across the city center.

After the walking tour in Alghero, you will proceed to visit the Marine Protected Area of Capo Caccia for a panoramic tour of the coast. You will then visit a famous archaeological site in the area where an ancient "Nuraghe" is located.

After that, you will visit a local winery and an olive oil producer, tasting their products and learning about ancient production methods, still used today.

You will then move to an organic farmhouse for a full typical lunch during which you will have the chance to taste traditional Sardinian recipes combined with local wines.
