Guided tour of the roman Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina town in Sicily, one of the most precious jewels left by the Roman civilization in Sicily.
The villa, built in the III-IV a.d. it probably belonged to Valerio Massimiano, a powerful patrician of the empire. Since 1997 it has become a UNESCO world heritage, especially for the beauty of its mosaics, famous all over the world.
The domus with its 48 rooms is built around the quadrangular peristyle which is accessed from the vestibule. The peristyle floor is entirely mosaic with drawings of European and African animals while the garden is enriched by a large fountain composed of three pools, covered in marble on the outside and in mosaic inside.
Tour included the visit of the room with the ten girls in bikinis portrayed in various sports: throwing the disc, playing with the ball, exercises with weights and cross country and, later, the Basilica with the polychrome marble floors

Full day Off-Road experience to Etna Volcano and Alcantara Gorges including stop at two Wineries to enjoy local cuisine and excellent wines.

Today meet the off-road’s driver and transfer to  Etna Volcano. During our first stop we will discover a unique canyon comprised of basaltic lava (the “ Alcantara Gorges”) and shaped by the waters of the Alcantara river. The Alcantara's vertical cliffs reach 30 meters in height and its structures have been forged by high intensity geological and geothermal events. In prehistoric times, a river flowed here over clay sediments until a massive volcanic eruption channeled magma into the river bed forming the current canyons. After this stop, we will visit the historic center of  Castiglione di Sicilia, a medieval village perched on a hill overlooking the Alcantara valley. The tour includes a walk to the Belvedere of the Castello di Lauria (of Norman-Swabian origin dating back to the twelfth century and built on the highest cliff of the medieval village).
Traveling through one of the wine roads of Sicily and crossing large expanses of vineyards (Etna D.O.C.), we will arrive at a local  winery. This is the ideal place to enjoy relaxing moments surrounded by nature while sampling a  snack  and excellent wines. We will then make a brief stop at the  2002 lava flow reachable by jeep through a winding dirt road surrounded by chestnut and oak forests. The 2002 eruption lasted from October 27th to January 29th 2003 and it is considered one of the most explosive eruptions of the past one hundred years. Continuing our excursion we will reach the Ragabo pine forest where hidden among pines and brooms, we will discover the  cave of Corruccio ( 1350 meters above sea level) a cave formed by flowing lava. Later, driving up along the Mareneve road we will reach  Piano Provenzana ( 1800 meters above sea level), a ski resort, theater of the great eruption of 2002. After enjoying an excellent espresso, we will take a short walk to visit the ruins of the hotel Le Betulle destroyed by a molten lava flow.
Before coming back to Taormina, traveling through one of the wine roads of Sicily and crossing large expanses of vineyards (Etna D.O.C.), we will stop at another local  winery, to enjoy again relaxing moments surrounded by nature while sampling local cuisine and excellent wines. In fact the wines are complemented by uniquely local delicacies.

Begin in Palermo and finish in Taormina with a shared transfer that includes a full-day trip to Cefalù. With a driver-escort, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the charming coastal town of Cefalù, which is known for its wonderful Dome. The tour is provided with English speaking driver or tour leader depending on the size of your group. The day trip concludes in the attractive medieval town of Taormina.

Meet your English-speaking driver/tour leader (depending on the size of your group) in central Palermo and relax in the comfort of your air-conditioned vehicle while you move to the charming coastal town of Cefalù. As you drive for approximately 1 hour, your driver or tour leader will keep you informed and share information about points of interest.
Cefalù is built on a promontory dominated by a sheer cliff. Still keeping its ancient print, the town has grown around the Cathedral, one of the most interesting medieval monuments of the island, that boasts outstanding mosaics and a wonderful cloister. Stroll through the medieval narrow streets and admire the picturesque houses on the sea and the long beach of finest sand.
This afternoon hit the road again for the journey to Taormina, a chic elegant resort town that sits in the shadows of the smoldering Mt Etna Volcano. Your tour concludes in Taormina Terminal Bus after approximately 2h30 driving.
