Pass By: Zagarolo, Zagarolo, Province of Rome, Lazio

Reach a family-owned winery in Zagarolo, a small town in the southeast of Rome countryside. Since 1945, their grandfather has produced a sparkling Roman wine called Romanella. In 1986, the family started to produce sparkling wine using the same method of Champagne, an exclusive and prestigious product of Lazio.

This family has been making wine since generations and your host represents the third generations! She dedicates her life by spreading the family wine tradition.

She grew up in nature and wine and food have become a real passion. She is a sommelier and she really takes care of the culture of wine, trying to teach you the tips for discerning a good one. She will share with you her suggestive world.

You'll start with a beautiful walk in the vineyard, listening to the family history of the winery. Then you'll visit the tuff cellar, dug in 1881 and located 20 meters underground.

Afterward, you'll taste two of the wines we make here, learning the evaluation by sight, smell, and taste. You'll enjoy the wine with bread and our organic oil, local cheese, and cured meats.

Discover relaxing-Roman countryside and enjoy this cooking class with local chef. Taste the fruits of your labor with fine good wine in a convivial atmosphere.

Meet your local chef and learn to prepare many original recipes. In Italy, each city has its own recipes that vary depending on the season and here you will do the same: in the summertime, you will prepare sorbets and ice cream, while in winter sfogliatelle and stuffed pasta. Claudia's kitchen is appreciated everywhere and prestigious newspapers (The Guardian and The Wall Street Journal) wrote about her.

In Italy, the "Italian Sunday lunch" is considered very important and you will have the opportunity to be part of this traditional moment. Dress up the chef's apron and start to prepare delicious dishes: vegetable fritters or savory strudel, croutons with vegetables and cheese; the pasta will be made by hand with flour from a local mill and eggs taken by the farmer, lasagne or ravioli or fettuccine, with their sauce and then a typical second course, the rolls or saltimbocca and for vegetarians a special dish. Finally, a cake that will be a parfait or a tart made together with your friends. After your practical lessons, you can sip home-made wine, enjoy the fantastic view and eat in the romantic living room or in the garden.
