Founded in 1724 where once there stood a monastery for Crouched Friars, Tenuta San Leonardo has since remained in the same family. Cast into the shadow of the first world war, the estate was converted into the headquarters of the 29th Corps of the Italian army. As the war waned, the Italian and the Austrians negotiated the terms of the armistice that would eventually bring an end to the war for Italy at San Leonardo in October 1918. As Italy emerged from war and experienced an economic resurgence, Tenuta San Leonardo also looked to reinvent itself as control of the estate was passed to Marchese Carlo Gonzaga in the late 1960s. In his new role, he would oversee the planting of international varieties with Guyot and spurred cordon trellising alongside the native varieties that were being cultivated using the traditional pergola trellising. These would be the first steps in San Leonardo’s transformation into a benchmark winery.

Your host will welcome you and you will enjoy a walk along the alley lined with lime trees, with a visit to the guyot and pergolas vineyards and to the gardens of Villa Gresti.

Then you will tour the vinification cellar and the underground ageing cellar, the ancient monastic vegetable garden with its essences and the collection of early 20th century classic tractors.

You will visit also the Museum of Rural Life together with the Estate’s historical archive, as well as the ancient chapel which hosts a fresco from around the year 1200.

The visit will end with a tasting session of Vette, Terre di San Leonardo, Villa Gresti and the renowned San Leonardo.

Guided city tour of the city of Bressanone (South-Tyrol/northeast Italy) with its famous Christmas market. The Episcopal city combines Medieval-Baroque atmosphere with modern lifestyle and a fascinating alpine world. Near Bressanone is one of the most important monasteries of central Europe, the Augustinian Abbey of Novacella.

This tour has a maximum of 6 passengers.

Enjoy this day tour discovering the Northern town of Bressanone. Visit the great Piazza del Duomo of Bressanone, a solemn venue for the Christmas Market of the Bishop’s city. The Bressanone Christmas Market is one of the five original markets taking place in Christmas time.

Transfer from Trento to Bressanone with Highway: (95 km - 1 hour 10 minutes).
The tour starts at the central square of the city: the Piazza del Duomo and the dome of Bressanone itself provides a perfect ambience for this event. The flavor of sweet Christmas bakery, mulled wine and cinnamon in in the air, the Bressanone Christmas Market casts a spell over its visitors.

Adjacent to the Cathedral, visit the Cloister with vaults of the 14th century and magnificent frescoes either of the 14th or of the 15th century, which show the development of medieval art. Admire the 230 foot (72m) high Gothic tower of the St. Michael parish church, as well as the double towers of the cathedral the landmark of the city of Bressanone. Due to its clear, bricked tower-roof, it is called the White Tower.

The tour will then continue to the Augustinian Canons Regular monastery of Novacella/Neustift. This is a bustling place with plenty of attractions for visitors. The 800 year-old monastery is set in picturesque surroundings nestling amid vineyards and orchards in the village of Novacella. The pretty gardens and the atmospheric monastery wine cellar are perfect places to relax in and savor peace and quiet.

Return back to Trento at the end of the tour.

You will be transported by a private vehicle.

From Trento you will first visit the city of Bolzano. You will visit Piazza Walther, the main square, where you will find one of the two Christmas Markets you will be visiting. The historical Christmas Market of Bolzano is the most important and famous throughout northern Italy.
The Christmas Market opens its doors for the 26th time on 24th November at 5pm. In keeping with tradition, it will repeat the formula of 80 exhibitors, 8 partners, 3 gastronomy stalls and a small market dedicated to children, guests and fellow citizens, until 6th January 2017.

You will move then to the city of Merano for our second Christmas Market.
In the wonderful spa town of Merano, the Christmas Markets goes from November 25 to January 6. The promenade along the Passirio River is filled with stands.
