Probably many of you have already been to Cagliari yet it is very likely you just sailed in to reach other destinations. Well, you were not the first ones to do so: the Romans and the Maritime Republics, the Spaniards and the House of Savoy - all of them came this way, and they left their mark. We are sure you do not want to be the first to leave unnoticed.

We set off on foot towards the town centre. The first must-see is the Palazzo del Consiglio Regionale (The Regional Council Building). Sardinia is the homeland of a number of artists, and the outdoor court of this particular building hosts works by Costantino Nivola, a sculptor of international renown. The artwork by this former bricklayer will tell you so much about the cultural heritage of the islanders.

We cross the Marina district, leaving behind St. Eulalia’s church, to reach the second site: the Crypt of the Holy Sepulchre. We are now in the Castello district, where every single bastion has undergone several attacks and conquests. History is just amazing: strongholds built in the Spanish days and towers erected by Pisa are proof of the efforts made by the invaders to rule the town. The same can be said about the House of Savoy and their legendary taste and passion for architecture : it is not just by chance that they chose this location for their Royal Palace.

Castello, Cagliari’s most beautiful district, is packed with original features and history, including St. Mary’s Cathedral and the wealth of scenic terraces overlooking the town. After such a walk it is time to slow down, take it easy, and stop for a locally sourced snack. Our choice is a venue serving all the best from the area.

An engaging journey to discover one of the most fascinating areas of Sardinia: Trexenta. Characteristic feature of the area is surely the grain, and it is to this noble cereal this tour is dedicated to, visiting the “Museum of the Grain". Located in the beautiful village of Ortacesus, it was designed to document the tradition of growing cereals in Sardinia. In addition to the guided tour, there will be an engaging and fun experience in the preparation of typical bread and pasta.

Trexenta (Sardinia) is an area surrounded by lush, green countryside where the abundance of water and the good climate have always allowed a rich production of olive oil, wine and cereals. Thanks to the fertility of the landscape, different populations have chosen to live here over centuries.

There are numerous testimonies that are lost in time from pre-Nuragic civilisation. The name is likely be linked to the legend of the "trecenta oppida", three hundred fortified villages that over the centuries have become, to a large extent, disappeared villages. We will visit the remains of the Romanesque church of St. Bartholomew, one of the ancient disappeared villages of the area.

Then, we will visit the "Museum of the Grain", organized in four interior and two exterior parts; in Sardinian dialect 'S’omu de is ainas, s’omu de su stexu de fenu, s’omu de su trobaxu sardu, s’omu de tziu Burranca'; and on the outside: 'sa coxinedda and sa domu e sa moba'.

You won't be faced with just a museum where objects of culture and tradition cereal are exhibited, the Museum of the Grain is an active institution, a place of memory that communicates with the present to transmit values and knowledge.
