Explore the Vatican and Ancient Rome on a half-day combo tour, led by a knowledgeable guide. With skip-the-line tickets to both the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum, you won’t waste any time. Follow your guide around the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica, and then enjoy free time for lunch (own expense). In the afternoon, visit the Colosseum and access it from the Arena, one of the restricted areas of the monument. Continue the tour with a walk to the Roman Forum and then Palatine Hill as you learn about the city during the Roman Empire.
Head to the Vatican Museums to meet your guide, and then step straight inside the complex with your skip-the-line ticket. During a 3-hour tour, you’ll discover a wealth of Renaissance artwork that was amassed by the popes.
Follow your guide around the corridors of the museum to learn all about the Vatican and its treasures. Visit Raphael’s Rooms, and then head inside the Sistine Chapel to gaze in wonder at Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam — the famous ceiling fresco that frames the main room.
Walk through a reserved passageway from the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica, and take a look inside. Highlights include Michelangelo’s La Pietà sculpture and Bernini’s baldachin.
After a break for lunch at your own expense, make your own way to the Colosseum for your 2.5-hour afternoon tour of Ancient Rome. Head straight past the Colosseum crowds with your fast-access ticket. You will step inside the monument directly onto the Arena, one of the restricted areas of the Colosseum, to see the ancient amphitheater where gladiators once fought to death.
When you leave the Colosseum, visit the nearby Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, and then bid your guide goodbye.
