With mountains and a lake in easy reach, Como is fertile ground for fine food. During a 2.5-hour tour of the town’s historic center, you’ll discover the locals’ favorite bakeries, delicatessens, and wine shops. The walk-and-eat experience also takes in landmarks such as the Cathedral of Como, and includes fun facts about the town’s history, culture, and architecture. Even better: Numbers are limited to 15 people for a personalized food tour.
Set on Lake Como’s southwest banks, the town of Como has long enchanted visitors; the eminent American poet Henry Longfellow even penned an ode to it. On your tour, you’ll discover both Como’s beauty and its food as you explore.
Stroll around the historical center with your small group and guide, admiring the Cathedral of Como’s Gothic-Renaissance architecture and the town hall of Palazzo Broletto. Learn about the 18th-century Teatro Sociale and the Romanesque Church of San Fedele. You’ll also stop to enjoy the tastiest food in town.
Walk to a historic café for an espresso and a pasticcino of your choice. Wander through nearby neighborhoods to sample focaccia, handmade breadsticks, and local cheese. The proximity of the mountains to Como means dairy delights are in good supply around town. Learn of traditional ways to cook the lake fish as you try Como’s take on finger food.
Stop in a wine shop for a tasting, and nibble on cured meat such as bresaola, prosciutto, salami, and mortadella. If you booked the morning or twilight tour, your tour ends here.
If you selected the upgrade, then continue to one of Como’s traditional restaurants to finish with a dinner influenced by the local land and lake. Dishes change, but typically you’ll savor two types of pasta along with wine, water, and espresso.
Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.
