Enjoy discovering the world of Parmesan Cheese, one of the most famous Italian cheese.

The museum is located just outside the city of Parma. Parmigiano-Reggiano (also known as Parmesan cheese) is a typical product of Made in Italy. It is a hard granular cheese with a long and natural maturation. It’s a highly concentrated cheese and contains only 30% water and 70% nutrients. Parmigiano-Reggiano is produced exclusively in the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena and parts of the provinces of Mantua and Bologna, on the plains, hills and mountains enclosed between the rivers Po and Reno.

The material displayed at the museum was collected from all 5 provinces where Parmigiano-Reggiano is produced.  The objects on display can be placed in a time frame between the second half of the XIX century and the first half of the XX century. All objects necessary for the transformation of milk are present in the oldest part of the building, whereas in the newer part of the building are those elements of the production process which do not involve transformation. Here we can find the maturing process, marketing and sales, as well as information about use of the cheese in gastronomy and its history.

Do not miss the opportunity to learn about this famous Italian cheese. The ticket includes cheese tasting.

Next to the cheese plants, in more recent buildings you can find the Reception, a café and the Museum Shop where it is possible to buy Parmigiano-Reggiano, the tasting kit and publications, posters, cards and themed kitchen objects.

Visit an artisan culatello producer in Emilia-Romagna, and learn how the king of the cured meat is produced. You’ll learn about the origins of the Italian ham, the curing that is done by hand, and the aging process that gives the meat its robust flavor. Finish with a lunch of local delicacies, wine, and culatello, of course. Transport from Parma is not included.

Ask an Italian meat lover to name a favorite cold cut and the response is likely to be “culatello.” Make your own way to the village of Colorno where the beloved meat is produced, roughly 20 minutes from Parma, to visit an artisan producer.

During your 3-hour tour, you’ll learn how the origin of the meat is guaranteed, sourced from a strip of land that runs through several Emilia-Romagna villages. The culatello, which translates as “little backside,” is seasoned, placed in a pig’s bladder, and strung up for nearly 12 months in farms dotted around the Bassa Parmense.

The region is close to the Po River, and many say that its moisture-rich air reacts with the humidity of the old cellars to give the meat its flavour.

Visit the aging cellars where the meat is hung, and then finish with a traditional lunch of culatello, local snacks, and wine.

Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.

Enter a world of parmigiano-reggiano cheese on a 2-hour visit to a Parma 'caseficio' (cheese factory). Watch the cheese makers at work as they separate the whey and shape the cheese into wheels. Before you leave, finish with a tasting of cheese paired with honey and regional wine.

Meet your guide at the caseficio in Parma, and start your tour to learn about parmigiano-reggiano, aka the king of cheese.

Visit an "acetaia" (traditional vinegar farmhouse) with its vineyards and discover the secrets of the "black gold", one of the simbol of Madein Italy in the world. Taste three different organic vinegars with local delicacies.

One of the finest of all food products originating from Emilia Romagna is traditional balsamic vinegar from the Modena and Parma area. It is made only from the Trebbiano grape vine. We have written testimonies of its origin dating back to 1046 AC when Emperor of Germany Enrico III requested it to amuse his palate.

Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia and of Modena is a real jewel for all "foodies". It is a unique vinegar based condiment as it is produced directly from grape juice. The liquid is then placed in wooden barrels and through an oxidation process over several years is transformed into the finest vinegar in the world.

The tour starts with a view and a walking on the splendid 40 acre vineyards estate and continues with a visit of the rooms where the 'black gold' is produced, aged and preserved within ancient wooden barrels. You will then taste 3 traditional balsamic vinegars which are 15, 22 and 28 years old combined with local delicacies.
