See the Vatican like a VIP with a once-in-a-lifetime private Sistine Chapel viewing and tour of the Vatican Museum’s secret rooms. The small-group tour gives unprecedented access to rooms that are usually off-limits to the public. Skip all the lines to see secret spots like the Room of Gold plus classic sites like Raphael’s Rooms, and end with a Sistine Chapel after-hours visit — just for your group of 15 people. It’s a great way to see Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam” fresco minus the crowds and earn bragging rights for life.

Skip-the-line Vatican tours are so popular, even the priority lines are long! But this exclusive VIP tour includes access through a reserved entranceway, ensuring that you will not wait in any long lines. Spend three hours here on a small-group tour, accompanied by a Vatican guard to unlock doors to secret rooms. You’ll discover the Vatican as only VIPs like presidents and royal families usually do.

Due to the nature of this special-access tour, the itinerary changes each time. Access to the secret rooms varies and is based on availability, but most tours include the impressive Bramante Staircase (Scala del Bramante), which is actually a ramp on the corner of the Pope's Palace. You’ll also most likely visit the Room of Gold (Sala degli Ori), an opulent, rarely seen room that holds a dazzling collection of papal gold jewelry and precious Etruscan jewels.

The Niccoline Chapel (Cappella Niccolina) is another secret room most likely seen during your tour. Every bit as beautiful as the Sistine Chapel, this secret room is adorned with gold brought back from Christopher Columbus' travels, and frescoes by Fra Angelico, a Renaissance painter whose mesmerizing artwork pre-dates Michelangelo's.

In addition to the closed rooms, see many of the Vatican Museums’ classic attractions. As your expert guide entertains you with tales of Vatican art, power and treachery, admire the statue of Apollo Belvedere and other renowned monuments. Visit Raphael’s Rooms, the public part of the papal apartments in the Palace of the Vatican, and stroll through the Pinecone Courtyard.

Your tour ends on a high note with private access to the Sistine Chapel for your small group. After the doors close to the public, you'll have 30 minutes inside this incredible (and empty!) chapel. Speaking is typically forbidden, but during this private experience, your guide will explain Michelangelo's stunning ceiling fresco, which depicts scenes from Genesis, and his wall fresco The Last Judgement.

Numbers are limited to eight on this small-group tour, ensuring you’ll enjoy personalized attention from your guide.

Leave your Rome hotel in the early morning, and head to the Campania region in the south of Italy. Your journey lasts around three hours, but your minivan is comfortable and air conditioned, and your driver-guide will explain the day’s itinerary on the way.

First stop is the picture-perfect town of Amalfi, on the luscious Amalfi Coast. Once a major naval power, the town is now known for its stunning coastal scenery; it clings to a jagged rock face looking down over the turquoise Tyrrhenian Sea. Enjoy free time here to stretch your legs on a walk around, admiring the town’s typically Mediterranean architecture, where houses seem to be built on top of each other as they straddle the hillside! Rest in one of the cafés and sample a shot of limoncello (own expense), or perhaps check out the Cloister of Paradise (Chiostro del Paradiso) -- an intriguing Arabian-style hamlet.

Continue by minivan to the neighboring village of Positano, passing along a stunning coastal road with stops peppered in for photo stops. Gaze in admiration at the white- and pastel-colored houses that smatter the hillside, and perhaps take a stroll along its perfectly groomed beaches.

Meet your guide at the pre-arranged time, and then head inland toward the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii -- the world-famous ancient village that lay buried under layers of volcanic ash for centuries. Explore the area with your guide on a 2-hour walking tour, documenting the site’s history from AD 79 when Mount Vesuvius erupted, to the early 18th century when it was ‘discovered.’ Hear history come to life with tales of ancient Romans who once lived here.

From Pompeii, return north to Rome by minivan. Your tour then finishes back at your hotel in the late evening.

Discover Milan and see da Vinci’s masterpiece, 'The Last Supper,' on this 3.5-hour tour. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Santa Maria delle Grazie to admire 'The Last Supper' in situ. Demand is high and the queues get long to see this masterpiece; choose this best-selling tour for advance booking and entrance tickets. Explore Sforza Castle and La Scala opera house with your guide. Marvel at the scale and beauty of Milan Cathedral and learn of its long history. Explore the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele shopping arcade, a highlight of Italy’s fashion capital.

Milan boasts plenty of superlatives: it's home to one of the world's oldest churches, a renowned opera house, the most fashionable city in Italy, and Leonardo Da Vinci's masterpiece, The Last Supper. You get to see all this and then some on this 3.5-hour tour.

Meet your guide near Sforza Castle in central Milan and set out on your tour. (The exact route will depend on your departure time.)

First, head to the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie — a UNESCO World Heritage site — and feast your eyes on The Last Supper in the refectory. This exquisite and incredibly important mural is thought to have been completed toward the end of the 15th century and depicts Jesus' last meal with his disciples.

Hear from your guide how da Vinci painted it directly onto a dry wall, a choice that makes it extremely delicate. For this reason, entrance is limited to those who have pre-booked, with the numbers of people and duration of visits also strictly controlled. Each visiting group is only allowed to stand with the painting at any one time in a specially conditioned room for a maximum of 15 minutes.

After admiring da Vinci's work, continue your explorations of Milan, where centuries of history and heritage blend seamlessly with cutting-edge styles and fashions.

Explore medieval Sforza Castle, an imposing citadel built in the 15th century to accommodate Milan’s lords, ladies and landed gentry.
Follow your guide to the Teatro alla Scala (La Scala Theatre), considered by many to be one of the world's most famous opera houses and learn how it has hosted leading lights such as Italy’s own Luciano Pavarotti. Admire the ornate stage, crystal chandelier and orchestra pit from your vantage point in one of the public boxes (unless there’s a rehearsal or show on). Your entrance ticket provides admission to the theater and museum, which you may like to revisit for a longer period.

No tour of Milan would be complete without taking in some of the city’s finest shopping hotspots — this is the world’s fashion capital! Wander around the chic boutiques and luxury stores of the glamorous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele shopping arcade, and admire the many luxurious items on sale.

After 3.5 hours discovering some of Milan’s top attractions, return to Sforza Castle in central Milan where your tour will conclude.

Hike up Mount Vesuvius and then explore the UNESCO-listed ruins of Pompeii on a must-do day trip from Rome! Going at a steady pace, the hike includes a walk on the ridge of Italy’s famously feisty volcano, allowing incredible views down into the crater itself. After a pizza lunch, head to Pompeii to see the havoc that Mount Vesuvius reaped on it in AD 79. Tour the UNESCO-listed excavations, seeing fossils and well-preserved ruins while hearing the horrors that befell this intriguing ancient city.

Mount Vesuvius is inaccessible from November 16 – March 31. During these months, your volcano hike is replaced with a tour of the National Archeological Museum of Pompeii.

Meet your guide at Piazza del Popolo and then hop aboard your luxury, air-conditioned coach for your journey south to Italy’s Campania region. As you travel, your guide will keep you entertained with tales about the region, and of its brooding nemesis -- the famous and fearsome Mount Vesuvius.

As Europe’s best-known active volcano, Vesuvius gained notoriety for the destruction of the ancient towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum in AD 79. See the scars of ancient lava flows while traveling to the volcano’s foothills, and then hop off your coach to walk to the top. Hiking up to the crater is the best way to experience Vesuvius’ magic, and after 20 minutes of steady-paced walking along soft volcanic ash and pumice stone you’ll hit the top.

Gaze down into the crater and enjoy some free time up on the ridge to soak up the volcanic views, set against the dazzling backdrop of the Bay of Naples. After taking pictures and drinking in the vistas, walk back down the volcano with your guide, and hop back aboard your coach for the short journey to Naples.

Enjoy one of the city’s world-famous pizzas for lunch, and then head south to the ancient city of Pompeii. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pompeii’s archeological site is fascinating to explore with well-preserved fossils and ruins that lay beneath volcanic ash for centuries.

See its sights with your guide, noting where the restaurants, shops and brothels of ancient Pompeii once stood. Marvel at the remains of the Forum and see Teatro Grande – an impressive theater that once sat some 5,000 people. See plaster death casts of the victims, and then hear how they were ‘discovered’ in the 18th century.

After exploring the excavation site, return to your coach and travel back to Rome. Your tour finishes at the start point in the early evening.

Please note: Mount Vesuvius is inaccessible from November 16 – March 31. If you choose to travel during these months, your Vesuvius visit will be substituted with a tour of the National Archeological Museum of Pompeii. Housing an impressive collection of artifacts, statues and artwork taken from Pompeii during excavations, the museum is the perfect complement to your visit to Pompeii!
